Durethia - you make a great point. This post should be titled "Open Source Projects on Codeplex" as there are many great OSS projects that run on Windows (77,000 of the 147,000 projects on SourceForge, for example).

The GIMP is also available for Windows. One of my co-workers uses it extensively on Windows.
