&lt;p&gt;Seriously though, this post is full of interesting tidbits. &amp;nbsp;I suppose my business functions as one of those open source integrators you mention. &amp;nbsp;I think that the customization/integration work is one of the forces which will drive forward community development in the business application space (most of the applications in this space are still dominated by single-vendor solutions, whether open source or not).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As an integrator, I prefer to work with multi-vendor solutions because it is far easier to get changes accepted upstream where the maintenance work can more effectively be shared. &amp;nbsp;In fact, even where I have had the option of being the single-vendor, I have turned it down and actively worked to recruit other vendors for the software (see, for example, my role in LedgerSMB). &amp;nbsp;In short, I think it is better for us to have a small but central role in a larger market than a larger role in a smaller one.&lt;/p&gt;
