I have no control over the price of a book. But I am not sure that if you are technical you would not buy books that are 44.99. Many of the technical books I have seem to be between 40 and 50. And I have many of them.

For me the value is based on the content and my return of the information. And that is something we all need to decide for ourselves.

The link http://www.manning.com/payette/ says that his book costs $44.99 thus ensuring that no techy guy every buys it and at all it will be bought only by cash rich corporates not for reading but for displaying at their reception.
