Tools, as I had mentioned are what I found to be the &amp;quot;glue&amp;quot; that holds it all together. As far as technologies go, I genuinely believe that when done right, they can be most empowering but can also be the greatest hinderance if mapped incorrectly to the business need. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I think one of the really cool systems that is out there today is from Penguin Computing and the Sclyd HPC Cluster Management.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Now...I know that this is really where Windows advocated and Linux advocates will disagree on what platform is a better platform to run on, but this is where the new Microsoft / Novell relationship will shine, because interoperability, whcih is the real issue here, was already where it needed to be, then we could focus on the technology and not how to make it all work together.&lt;/p&gt;
