We sent Hank to talk with Tres Hill, Sr Product Manager, to find out why this announcement is significant for IT professionals running heterogeneous environments

re: Windows Unified Data Storage Server

this was way over my head. i will ask you a question: can a server upload files to clients a(game server)without having to use a re-direct? if there is ,is it hardware? my uploads @4/Kb's .terrible. downloads at 600 to 700 kb/s. i am running for hardware a 350gig ide&s-ata drives, 4 gigs of physical ram, amd 4600 processor.windows server2003 /xp 64 ,speeding along with it being dual channeled. i am at a loss as to why i get decent downloads but terrible uploads.i have enough power,so to speak ...don't i? i am sure this is a waste of time on your part, if you have any spare time PLEASE feel free to respond. thankyou

Question 1: If I set up two WUDS servers, each with theor own direct attached storage, can I configure a logical volume on WUDSS1 as two mirrored volumes, one on the local disks and one on the iSCSI target of WUDSS2?

Question 2: Can a WUDSS server with iSCSI initiator talk to its own target? Can I create shares on top of iSCSI targets that reside on the same WUDSS?

The combination of 1 and 2 would give me shared storage with synchronous replication :-)

Now you'll find a properly rendered Press Release when you click the link. :)

Instead of a legitimate html rendering of a Press Release, I get a log in page about requiring IE 6 browser to support some outlook implementation.

Irony of Ironies- what is wrong with being able to present information that does not require opening a gaping security hole into my system.
