No, Gold, they just said they won't sue people for creating alternative implementations of C#, like Mono.

I don't understand why they don't fully embrace running .Net applications on Linux and Mac. Microsoft needs to do whatever it takes legally to make this happen. Microsoft's marketshare will continue to erode as more Internet enabled non-MS devices are released. More and more developers are looking for a cross platform solution.

A "community promise"!? Ha. What type of contract is this.

Because of this inconcrete vocabulary MS opens all backdoors they can find.

If they were serious they would give this all to GPL.

I'd suggest most people become familiar with the legal term 'estoppel' if they're worried Microsoft can 'change its mind' on what's now a well documented promise.
